SUNDAY, JULY 25, 2004 – GODDARD STATE PARK

There were 285 hens and roosters in attendance, including 30 ex-players.

The weather, food, music and camaraderie were super. Rene Rancourt started things off by singing the Canadian and American National Anthems.

It was the first reunion for Reds players Rick Middleton, George Ranieri and Milt Schmidt. George Patrick Duffy stated, “I’ve been to hundreds of functions but never saw or heard a welcome like that given to Milt”.  Milt, Bruins great and NHL Hall of Famer, who started his career with the Reds in 1936-37, was presented with a plaque from the Society recognizing him as its 500thmember.

RI Governor Carcieri was in attendance and received a certificate noting that he was the Society’s 501st member.

In George’s annual re-enactment, Bob Roberson scored the winning goal in overtime. Bob said it was his biggest goal ever, although he did net a few “in practice against my own goalie.”

2003 NJ Devils Stanley Cup hats were handed out to each guest, courtesy of Lou Lamoriello.

This year’s Tops Awards winners were Reds owners George Sage and Lou Pieri, Jr., as well as Tom Army, who held many front office positions with the Reds and was a founding society member.
