Dave Maloney

Dave was drafted at age 18 by the New York Rangers (first round, 14th overall). He suited up with the Reds over the 1975 & 1976 seasons.

The rugged defenseman quickly made it to the National Hockey League. He played 657 career NHL games, scoring 71 goals and 246 assists for 317 points, as well as compiling 1154 penalty minutes.

Dave became the youngest player to serve as Captain for the New York Rangers, leading them to the 1979 Stanley Cup finals over his nine seasons with the Broadway Blueshirts.

He starred for Team Canada at the 1977 IIHF World Championships in Vienna and finished his pro playing career with the Buffalo Sabres in 1985. After retirement, he served as a Fox Sports hockey analyst and became a stockbroker in New York.

He was inducted into the Lindsay District Sports Hall of Fame in Ontario in 2001.
