Frederick “Bun” Cook

Born September 18, 1904, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada

A “Class of 1967” inductee, “Bun” Cook became most famous for having been at the coaching helm of the most Calder Cup winning teams in AHL history with a total of seven, including two with Providence in 1937 and 1939.

He was voted the AHL All-Star coach six times. Bun piloted the Reds for six seasons from 1937 to 1943 and compiled a 148-137-39 (.517) record.

He skated in 37 games with Providence over those six campaigns. Cook enjoyed a 13-year professional playing career and was a member of two Stanley Cup championship teams with the NY Rangers, in 1928 and 1933, playing on the “Bread Line” with his brother Bill and Frank Boucher.

He was posthumously inducted into the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995 and into the American Hockey League Hall of Fame in 2007.
