Harvey Bennett

A “Class of 1967” inductee, Harvey Bennett played more seasons (12), more games between the pipes (480) and registered more wins (226) than any other Reds goaltender.

He is also the patriarch of one of Rhode Island’s most accomplished hockey families. Bennett compiled a 3.61 GAA, a 226-224-30 record and posted 10 shutouts from 1947 to 1959 with Providence.

This nimble, reliable netminder was a member of the Reds’ 1948 championship team and in his first professional and only NHL season (1944), Bennett compiled a 4.20 GAA in 25 games with the Boston Bruins. He was inducted into the American Hockey League Hall of Fame in 2013.

He was enshrined in the charter class of the RI Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
