Bernard “Buzz” Deschamps<\/strong><\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Buzz Deschamps was drafted by the New York Rangers in 1955. He is best known for holding the single season scoring record of 59 goals for the Long Island Ducks of the Eastern Hockey League during an All-Star 1963-64 season.<\/p>\n

Buzz spent a decade playing professional hockey across the United States and Canada, skating with the Sudbury Wolves, Indianapolis Chiefs, Long Island Ducks, Baltimore Clippers, St. Paul Rangers and our Providence Reds.<\/p>\n

He was traded by the NY Rangers to the Reds on May 17, 1965, along with Marcel Paille, Aldo Guidolin and Jim Mikol, for NHL Hall of Famer Ed Giacomin. Buzz played 13 games for the Reds that season before signing with the Los Angeles Blades of the WHL. It would be his last full season of professional play.<\/p>\n

Deschamps later became a scout for the NHL’s Calgary Flames and the New York Rangers. He coached the St. John’s University hockey team on three different occasions between 1985 and 1991, as well as the men’s hockey team at Stony Brook University in 2010.<\/p>\n

In 2016, Buzz started a foundation called Trudy’s Kids in honor of his late wife to help needy kids with assistance in paying for registration fees, equipment and travel expenses. He continues to give back to the hockey community through his work with various youth hockey organizations in the New York area.<\/p>\n

Buzz is a member of several sports Halls of Fames. He was inducted into the Penetanguishene (Ontario) Sports Hall of Fame in 1998, the Midland Sports Hall of Fame in 2002, and the Suffolk (New York) Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
